Aurora Artisans® Poetry Contest

Deadline: June 1, 2010

Winner receives $200 and publication in Word Worth®. Honorable Mentions will receive publication and a beautifully formatted pdf file (suitable for printing or sending) of their work. All entries will be considered for publication in an Aurora Artisans magazine [Web based: Word Worth®, Maryland 20878®. Word Worth is hardbound in yearly volumes after publication.].

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. Contestants must be at least 18 years of age.

2. Entry Fees:

  • $10 per entry (up to 200 lines of poetry in any configuration: ten sonnets is 140 lines; ten haiku is 30 lines).
  • Make checks or money orders payable to Aurora Artisans (no cash).

3. Deadline: Submissions must be postmarked by June 1, 2010.

4. For each entry, submit the following:

  • The author's name must not appear anywhere on the manuscript.
  • A completed Submission Form.
  • A check or money order for $10 made out to Aurora Artisans.

5. No previously published works, or works which have been accepted for publication.

6. Winning poems and bio sketch must be submitted electronically following notification that they are finalists  if a CD disc was not included with the manuscript. Finalists not submitting electronic copies after being requested to do so will be disqualified.

8. Manuscripts will not be returned. No refunds will be issued. No substitutions. Winners will be announced in November, 2010 on the web site.

9. Current staff of and contributors to Aurora Artisans magazines and their families are not eligible.

 Contest Submission Form
This form can be filled out prior to being printed:

  1. Open the pdf file, then click Save As under the File menu, and save it to your computer [My Documents, perhaps].

  2. Fill it out from there, and click Save at that point.

  3. Then print the file and mail it in with your contribution and payment.

  4. Be sure to sign the form after printing it.

  5. If you find that you cannot save it, fill it out, then print two copies (one for your records). Be sure to sign the form that you send in.
