To our Readers,

The last two and a half years have been hectic, but good, for Word Worth^®. We have moved our offices two hundred miles away from our previous location, and our staff has gone through moves and other major changes as well. After a dozen years of publishing, we are looking forward to returning to a monthly publication schedule.

Aurelia Perry will move up to the primary editorship of the magazine, and under her able leadership, you will see changes and new ideas, but the basic form of the magazine will remain the same.

I will still be actively involved in the publication and editing as well.

We thank all of our loyal readers and contributors and look forward to new directions for the magazine.

As a long-time contributor to Word Worth^®, I am thrilled to be taking a more active role in its publication.  Over the past 12 years Word Worth^® has become a refreshing voice of the 21st century, exploring ideas and arts both ancient and modern, world-wide.  This new year is shaping up to be an exciting one for the magazine; I am delighted to be part of the team bringing new thoughts and perspectives to our readers, and look forward to the places that the journey will take us together.

Submitting work to Word Worth^®

Writers and artists whom we have previously published should send their work as an attachment to the e-mail address they have used in the past. Submissions from new writers and artists must follow this procedure:

Written work [essays, fiction, columns, articles, poetry, etc.] —

1. Submit your work by way of the text box on the Letters page, and be sure to include your e-mail address.

2. We will send you an e-mail message letting you know whether or not we can consider your work in the near future.

3. If your work is accepted, we will send you a submission form which you will need to fill out and send to us along with an SASE [self-addressed stamped envelope].

4. When we have all of your materials and publish your work, we will send payment minus any costs for sending the payment. (This can come to a considerable amount for foreign writers who cannot find a suitable payment option.)

5. At present, all written work must be in English.

Visual or auditory work [photographs, paintings, sculpting, music,  etc.] —

6. Describe your work by way of the text box on the Letters page, and be sure to include your e-mail address.

7. We will send you an e-mail message letting you know whether or not we can consider your work in the near future and how to submit the material for further review.

We are eager to begin our next decade and hope to hear from many of you. Look for new things in the next year as we expand our outlook in the next decade, and as always, we thank you, our readers for the dedication which has made us what we are.

Charles Miess is a recipient of an Apex Award for his column, "Something Borrowed" available at Archives July 2005. M H Perry is a recipient of an Apex Award for the publication of another magazine in the Aurora Artisans® series, Kentlands Dot Us.
Gary Earl Ross, one of our Word Worth® contributors, has received an Edgar Award for his play, Matter of Intent.  The Edgar Awards are given by Mystery Writers of America who presented Ross the Best Mystery Award for 2005 at their dinner attended by 600 guests in Manhattan on April 27, 2006.  Congratulations from the Word Worth® staff, Gary.
